We are Victory Tabernacle Church (VTC) and we are a member of a larger Community of Churches, The Pentecostal Church of God. We believe that God has one mission on His mind—to seek and save the lost—and one movement on this planet—the Church of Jesus Christ
Founded in 1961 by Pastor Arnold and Jane Gooden, VTC was originally named the Catoctin Full Gospel Church. They served as Pastors until 1977. At this time the church was affiliated with the Full Gospel Churches throughout the tri-state area. The Goodens left Thurmont for a position in Chambersburg, P.A., when Rev. Rick and Karren Farly were selected by the church to serve as the new Pastors. Rev. Farley was the Secretary Treasurer for the Capital District of the Pentecostal Church of God. The church was then renamed Victory Tabernacle and introduced to the Pentecostal Church of God. In June of 1980, Rev Farley left VTC to plant a PCG church, the Martinsburg Christian Academy in Martinsburg, WV. Rev. David Reynolds and his wife Hope Reynolds followed Rev. Farley and were Pastors of VTC from June 1980-June 1983. During this time, they founded The Catoctin Christian Academy and later they accepted a position in the Greensboro PCG as the Principal of Chesapeake Christian Academy from 1983-1985. Rev. Randy and Bonna Lawrence Sr. followed David and Hope and pastored from 1983-1986. Rev Lawrence officially chartered Victory Tabernacle with the PCG and continued the day school. Rev. Lawrence and his wife accepted a call to Pulaski, VA to Pastor New Hope Church. In December of 1986. Hope and David Reynolds returned to VTC. Rev Reynolds had finished seminary and accepted a part time call as a chaplain in the Air National Guard (USAF). He and Hope would often deploy for the USAF. The Elders and Deacons would care for the church in their absence. During one extended 30-month deployment from 2009-2012, Rev Aaron Reynolds and his wife Lacy served as Interim Pastor. In April 2017 Rev Reynolds was selected to be the Capital District Bishop. He and Hope retired from the military Chaplaincy in May of 2018 and retired from the pastorate of VTC in December of 2021. December 2021. David and Hope mentored a Pastoral Care team, Rev David and Vicky Quill, Rev Dale Lessner and Rev Jeremiah and Valerie Reynolds. Which has been installed and leading VTC PCG in new pursuits with excellency and spiritual vigor. The current pastoral leadership is working to redesign the church’s vision, evangelize new members, train disciples in service of Jesus and others, and care for members of the flock of God.
